Welcome to my teaching life!

Hi! I'm new here :) My name is Kimberley Adair-Gagnon and I am excited to embark upon blogging for the first(ish) time! I've dabbled in writing blog posts with students and for university classes, but this is my first real attempt, so bear with me as I learn and grow through this process.

What can you expect from my blog? Here, I aim to share my reflections and thinking around my approach to designing learning experiences that empower students and lead to meaningful learning.

I hope to map out a year of student-centered planning, teaching and learning.

Through exploration and reflection into and about my teaching, I anticipate huge benefits for my students. Earlier, I introduced myself as being "new here", but as I venture into my 2019-2020 teaching life, new applies in many ways. While I am an experienced teacher, entering my 20th year, I have not taught in a classroom for quite some time, instead my work has been focused on professional learning, facilitating learning with and for colleagues. So, to say the least, I feel like a new teacher once again. I will be at a new school and teaching a new grade level ... "new" is the theme for me this year. With that comes a sense of freshness and opportunity for growth, I am excited and ready to jump in and give my best to my students and my school.

It seems a prime opportunity to start a reflective blog and I know my future self will be glad I did. I hope that my thoughts and reflections about the successes and challenges I face on my journey of new will also be valuable to my fellow educators.
